West Engineering is an engineering design and machining job shop that focuses on the custom design, development and manufacture of unique heavy duty industrial machines. This includes large heavy parts, small components, fixtures and turn-key assemblies, mostly "one-of-a-kind" for industrial companies, government contractors, and similar heavy-duty manufacturing equipment and machine users. The company is not a sheet metal, small parts or mass production run consumer products manufacturer.

Founded in 1919, by Edward West, Sr., this single location company has a 62,000 square foot facility with a full array of CNC and precision machining resources and skilled personnel. West Engineering, still led by the West family, is the preferred custom machine engineering design, prototype development and machine building resource for many valued clients.


Each day, administrative services assistance may involve doing a little bit of everything, ranging from the routine to the unexpected, and from the mundane to responding to urgent/important situations.  The focus is on completing the need-to-do office support tasks and to help keep the office operating as smoothly as possible.  Expected attributes include, for example:

1. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in a variety of formats.
2. Confident with optimistic and enthusiastic attitude.
3. Articulate with "can do" and responsive problem-solving attributes.
4. Detail oriented, accurate and precise in all tasks.
5. Innate math, numbers, money and financial aptitude with common sense.
6. Quick learner, self-starter, quick recall of key details and able to work well when with team or when unattended.
7. Work effectively under pressure, strategically manage time, and able to work extra hours if required by reporting and other deadlines.
8. Maintain composure when unexpected situations go wrong and ability to take the initiative for prompt resolution.
9. Strong desire to be successful and able to be a respectful team member in an established custom machine design, machine and build job shop.


1. Savvy and accurate with computers (Microsoft Office, in particular Excel and Word) and associated operating data entry and processing systems (skill with JobBoss ERP and PayChex is a plus).
2. Ability to create and maintain positive "first-impressions" for all who come into direct contact with the company, including and not limited to: inbound callers, potential customers, suppliers and associates, job seekers, etc.
3. Proficient with diverse and necessary office functions such as filing, photocopying, handling in-bound and outbound correspondence and packages, faxing, office supply assurance, keeping visible areas tidy and presentable, expediting and following up with customer service inquiries.
4. Understanding of fundamental record-keeping paperwork, bookkeeping, and associated functions in project-based, custom manufacturing job shop operations (job cost tracking including labor, materials, receiving and shipping, support for management information system, etc.).
5. Providing support as-needed to leadership, managers, professional staff and functional teams (for example, keeping filing systems in order, contact data-base updating, topical research and support for operations, etc.)
6. Other multi-taking and functions as deemed appropriate on a timely basis to foster the continuity and positive growth of the enterprise.

Job Type:

Full-time; Work begins on Mondays and consists of five 8 hour consecutive days as scheduled. Extra time may be expected when needed to meet deadlines. No travel.
Pay: $15.00 to $20.00/hour. Depends on qualifications and experience.
